If you’re a regular reader here at Almero Student Mansions, then you may well be aware that we have been raving about our brand new luxury student accommodation in the heart of Manchester. We have been huge advocates of the city as a student destination for some time and are absolutely delighted to be able to offer some of the region’s best student residences, all with the style and sophistication that is guaranteed with Almero.
To complement this, we have been covering all aspects of studying in Manchester, from the best academic institutions to the social side of things and today’s feature is no different. One of the reasons that Manchester is one of the Europe’s biggest and best student communities is its nightlife and social scene and this has been the case for decades. From Madchester and the Hacienda scene back in the nineties to Oasis and more recently, movements such as Warehouse Project, the city has always been at the forefront of UK music culture, this is still very much the case today.
With this in mind, we have put together this quickfire guide to the best nights out in Manchester so you can start your time studying in the city as you mean to go on.
Best Manchester Nightclubs
As with any city, finding the best nightclub really comes down to your favourite kind of music and the vibe you’re going for. We have therefore highlighted some clubs below in two of Manchester’s most vibrant areas and given you some idea of the kind of tunes you can find there and also the clientele.
Clubs in Manchester City Centre
Manchester city centre is a firm favourite amongst students and revelers alike looking for the latest in pop and commercial music. Thankfully, you will find yourself spoilt for choice as soon as you get off the train at either of the city’s main train stations; Oxford Road and Piccadilly. Some awesome clubs are also just a short walk from many of our luxury student properties.
Gorilla – This pub come club has built up a great reputation for itself over the years. What seems like a cosy cocktail bar as you walk in, complete with friendly bar staff and a pretty cool menu, quickly turns into one of the best nightclubs in town. A short walk past the gin parlour and into Gorilla’s venue and you will find a venue that many of the world’s best DJ’s have been proud to play in. With gigs and DJ sets all through the week, Gorilla is a great shout for clubbers of all tastes.
Previously a Brannigan’s, this venue has undergone an impressive facelift and is now one the city’s most popular clubs. Again, many of the world’s best names in music have played here and the acoustics are a joy to behold. You can have a few drinks in the neighbouring Albert’s Schloss, a German themed pilsner house to get the party started before heading into the venue to enjoy one of Manchester’s very best nights out.
Deansgate Manchester Clubs
As you venture further into the city, you will quickly find yourself in Deansgate. One of Manchester’s most energetic districts and on the doorstep of the ever-fashionable Spinningfields, you will find plenty of clubs here to take your interest. Here are a couple on us…
The Bijou Club
If you’re looking for a clubbing experience in Manchester that is firmly on the side of style and sophistication, be sure to check out Deansgate’s Bijou. Known by the locals to be one of the most exclusive clubs in town, you may need to dress to impress to get in but it’s probably worth the extra effort. Elegant interiors, LED ceilings and of course, a secret garden, make this the place to be if you are celebrity spotting and the tunes get a bit tasty too.
Finally, there is South. Any stay in the city as student will be incomplete without a visit to this venue. Defined by its iconic courtyard and Sunday sessions that are a firm favourite amongst the student demographic, this is one of Deansgate’s very best nightclubs and is busy pretty much every night of the week. There are also weekly residencies from Manchester best young DJ talent and special events that keep the kids dancing whatever the occasion, you will struggle to find a better atmosphere than South. Don’t wear white though, as much of this club is outdoors – making is a better bet during the summer months.
We trust that this guide to the best night out in Manchester helps you to get started in what is a phenomenal student city in the UK. There are of course all sorts of other venues and Manchester is growing all the time, with new clubs popping up all the time.
